The world is full of people who’re willing to sidestep legal boundaries in an effort to get stuff for nothing. The internet is host to many of them.
Crafty phishers are using tried and tested textbook methods of stealing other people’s battle.net accounts. The ignoble curs have been sending authentic-looking emails promising a StarCraft II CD-key. In the eternal words of Admiral Ackbar – IT’S A TRAP!
One such scam features a step-by-step CD-key activation procedure that leads to a phony Battle.net log-in screen. Should you enter your log-in details, they’ll be sent directly to the dastardly hands of the scammers.
Here’s a bit of advice : Try not clicking on links you get in emails, regardless of how genuine they appear – unless they’ve been digitally signed. It’s pretty easy to spoof addresses and the like, so the phishing mails may even appear to originate from Blizzard.com or battle.net.
Below is a sample of one of the offending mails.

Still, it’s good advice! Licking anything in emails is generally quite ineffective. 😛

Wow! I got one of those emails this morning, and it had me baffled for a few seconds. Initially, I thought the missus bought Starcraft 2 on our account, but then I moused over the link and spotted the odd url link.
Dastardly bastards! What happened to merely sending pron to my email addie?
