The PS3 hacks to date have yielded very little other than piracy, emulators and a file manager or two. Now, an an enterprising young nerd has managed to do the unthinkable; gotten Microsoft’s motion-sensing Kinect to work on the PS3 – a most unholy union. While the hack isn’t native; it uses a PC (and the open source Kinect libraries) to as a bridge to capture Kinect’s output and use it to control the PS3, it does seem to work pretty well for something that’s in pre-alpha.
In the video below, you’ll get to see the PS3’s XMB being controlled with Kinect, as well as a little motion-controlled Killzone 3. for more information on how to get it set up, should you be one of those nefarious PS3 hackers we’re always complaining about, click here.
Hey! The PS3 really does do everything!
