The first in a stand-alone trilogy.
I’ll be honest and admit here that the initial synopsis and studio photos that featured the cast squinting into the future didn’t exactly endear me to the idea of Terminator Genisys. That, and it still has a very silly sequel name. But it’s hard to deny that the action unfolding above doesn’t look exciting.
If there’s one thing that the Terminator films have always been good at, it’s creating time loops. Playing havoc with causality and creating grandfather paradoxes the size of Belgium, the franchise knows just how to close a loop and how to open a new one. With explosions.
And this trailer is hitting all the marks for me. Arnie. The future. More explosions. The war with Skynet. Come with me if you want to live. Heck, they’ve even got the T-1000 back! Sorry Kristanna Loken, but your T-X Terminator was just rubbish.
And that’s good work for a trailer, as I’m no longer dreading the film but actually looking forward to it now. Terminator Genisys stars Sandrine Holt, J.K. Simmons, Byung-hun Lee,Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Matt Smith, Michael Gladis, Emilia Clarke and Dayo Okeniyi.
Alan Taylor directs.

I don’t like the casting of Kyle Reese at all. If they’re casting so differently they may have gone with Dwayne Johnson.
The overall concept is interesting, I’ll definitely check it out. Even though it’s clear that Hollywood has never paid any attention to the opening dialogue from T2: Skynet sent two Terminators back through time.
Two. That’s it. One to strike at Sarah Connor, and one to strike at John when he was still a child.
