Yes, yes, we’ve all heard tales that the PC as a gaming platform is a almost at deaths door, ready to knock on it, but frankly, it seems such deathly rumours have been greatly exaggerated, with 2011 being a stellar year for PC exclusive games.

We’ve seen a mix of mind-bending, explosive and unusual games make their way onto the venerable platform, but only one could come out on top and be declared the king of its platform.

Here are the nominees for best PC Exclusive game:

The Witcher 2
Hard Reset
Serious Sam 3 BFE
The Binding of Isaac
Minecraft

And the award goes to:

Winner: The Witcher 2

Surpassing the original game completely, the further adventures of Geralt amidst a backdrop of regicide and betrayals, was a masterpiece of solid gameplay ideas and visuals. Not just content with their work in the sequel, developer CD Projekt RED saw to it that several more expansions and updates were released, with each fix fine-tuning the game towards near perfection.

An adult-themed and styled take on the fantasy genre with an engrossing tomb of background lore behind it, The Witcher 2 was a thrilling, highly customizable escape into realms unknown, earning it top marks with us for the best PC game of the year.

Runner-Up: Minecraft
