Far Cry Primal: Your PC must be this strong to tame beasts

Far Cry Primal

Far Cry Primal is a strange beast. When it was first announced, our immediate assumption was that it would be a sort of spin-off, not entirely unlike the deliciously silly Blood Dragon. That, however, isn’t the case – and Far Cry Primal is in fact this year’s fully-fledged Far Cry game.

Set in world whose name reminds us of a particular orange squash, the game is set very much in the past, eschewing the guns and explosions that have been a hallmarks of the series. Naturally, it raised a few eyebrows to The Rock-like degrees, but a few hand on previews (like our own!) have placated many fears – and the game keeps looking better and better.

“Far Cry Primal is certainly something different, and I walked away both intrigued and impressed by how Ubisoft have managed to change a formula while making it feel decidedly welcoming,” Alessandro said then. “There’s certainly no mistaking that Primal is a Far Cry game, and it’s going to be interesting to see how gameplay is received in general, given its similarities. But if Primal was a poker game, Beast masteries would certainly be the ace in the hole. A subtle system on the surface, but one that gives Primal the character it needs to cement your escapism into the Stone Age.”

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
