FPS games are, like it or not, a driving force in the video game industry. since their popularity boomed with the advent of 3D accelerated gaming, they’ve been a mainstay. Though many *like myself) are pretty bored with the genre, there’s no denying its importance. The first person shooter, more than any other genre, has given video gaming a mass-market appeal, evidenced by the phenomenal successes of games like Halo and Call of Duty.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at the last 30 years or so of first person games, shooters in particular. sure it is heavily slanted towards PC shooters – but considering that’s their home, I have no problem with that. The omission of Halo though? Bit of a sin.
