Kutaragi "insisted" on Spider-Man font for PS3

Teiyu Goto, the guy who designed the PlayStation 3, has revealed that Ken Kutagri insisted on using the Spider-Man font on the PS3 instead of creatinga new font. Due to all the risks that would entail.

I am not sure about you but what risks would creating some font entail?

Anyway he goes on to mention that the PS3 logo and font’s where one of the first design elements that where accepted, the actual shape of the PS3 then followed from these original decisions…

“If you really look at the PS3 contour carefully, it is rounded when viewing the console in profile. Rather than creating a typography with all the risks that entails, it was wiser to use the one from Spider-Man, for which Sony has the rights.
