Here is some interesting news, Acclaims Chief Creative Officer David Perry is pretty much completely sold on the idea that the PSP 2 is not only real, but possibly releasing later this year.
Thing is… he seems to have a really good reason for it. Check this out, David Perry had the following to say to Kotaku earlier today concering the :
“I spoke to a developer who is working on it right now,” he said. “I know this developer is already working on it, so that means they have a prototype. That would sound like a fall release to me.”
If this is true then yesterdays news about LittleBigPlanet and Motorstorm heading to the PSP later this year makes me wonder if they will indeed be coming to the current PSP or the PSP 2.
More after the jump.
It looks like the PSP 2 may be going fully digital and leaving the failed UMD drive behind. If this is true then we may see an initial release of games over memory sticks, to entice retailers to stock the handhelds and then moving over to nothing but digital downloads at a later stage.
Will backward compatibility be taken into account? Nothing is certain yet and we don’t have any official announcement for the PSP 2 but it is possible that the rumoured PSP 4000 may in fact be a new handheld altogether.
I think that if Sony is planning to release a PSP 2 that it would be a good move. The PSP is still suffering and the UMD format is pretty much dead. Please be true and secondly, please Sony, please, give us two thumbsticks and more shoulder buttons.]
