Work Avoidance Wednesday: SUPERHOTline Miami

2 min read

I know you’re pretending to work while reading this. Don’t worry, your boss is looking the other way, and I certainly won’t rat you out! In fact, I have a surprise for you, something that will distract you from that silly thing that pays you money. Welcome to Work Avoidance Wednesday!

Today’s game is called SUPERHOTline Miami (via PC Gamer). As you can probably deduce from the title, it’s a combination of two games – Superhot and Hotline Miami. I’m sure many of you have heard of the latter, but what about the former, Superhot? I knew nothing about it myself, so I did some research. Here’s what it looks like:

Imagine that glorious slowmo, Matrix-like gameplay combined with the top-down view and mechanics of Hotline Miami. Now you know exactly what to expect from SUPERHOTline Miami. The best part? It’s playable in your browser right this second. Alternately, you can download the files (via the same page) and play it directly on your PC.

Don’t be fooled by the simplistic presentation – the game is ridiculously satisfying and addictive, and it’s accompanied by a nice thumping soundtrack. I’d recommend equipping headphones and turning the volume up appropriately. Just, try not to nod your head in time with the beat mkay? That might alert your boss to your non-work activity.

The only downside is that the game only has 4 levels available at the moment. There are more to come though, so bookmark the page for future work avoidance if you’d like.

Gameplay 2

You’ll probably be done in a couple of minutes. What I suggest (if you need a longer distraction) is playing the game again using only your fists. That ramps up the difficulty nicely.

So, work avoided? Mission accomplished!
