You might recall that a couple of years ago, two of the big brains behind Infinity Ward had a bit of an argument with publisher Activision, over some royalty payments which amounted to quite a few million dollars.

That led to the departure of Modern Warfare creators Jason West and Vince Zampella, a move which also resulted in a massive court case. It’s been dragging on for years now, or in the gaming industry, what is known as several epochs.

But it looks like that case has finally been settled.

According to Polygon‘s Michael McWhertor, West and Zampella have managed to reach a settlement agreement with Activision, a report that their lawyers both confirmed. Which means that Activision will most likely finally give up some of the lucrative COD pie profits to the Respawn Studios head honchos, avoiding going to trial and putting the issue behind them.

Speaking to Kotaku, West and Zampella’s lawyer had the following to say;

Trial is not going forward. All parties have reached a settlement of the dispute. The terms are confidential.

Meanwhile, Activision then issued their own statement:

Activision Blizzard, Inc. (ATVI) today announced that all parties to the litigation have reached a settlement of the dispute, the terms of which are strictly confidential.

The company does not believe that the incremental one-time charges related to the settlement will result in a material impact on its GAAP or non-GAAP earnings per share outlook for the current quarter or the calendar year, due to stronger-than-expected operating performance in the current quarter.

Activision has already paid out $42 million to former Modern Warfare 2 employees, but it’s unclear right now, how much was awarded to West and Zampella.

Still, with this bulgy episode finally over with, and with the Respawn Entertainment bosses now flaunting some cash in the process, perhaps we can finally expect some more games and less lawsuits.
