MotionControl

Thanks to the proliferation of Kinect and the PlayStation Move motion controlled games are more prolific than ever. More people are waggling their arms (or their whole bodies!) for the purpose of gaming than ever before. With all three console manufacturers having jumped into the fray, there were many great examples of motion controls pushing gaming in a new direction.

Here are the nominees for best Motion controlled game:

Child of Eden
The legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Dance Central 2
The Gunstringer

And the award goes to:

Zelda

Winner: The Legend of Zelda:Skyward Sword

Very few people manage to get motion controls right. For the most part they’re tacked on to existing experiences, or casual, family-friendly fare. Skyward Sword managed to marry waggle with traditional controls. Thanks to Wii Motion Plus, there’s no doubt that this is the best marriage of motion controls to traditional gaming as you’re likely to experience. Beyond good motion control, it’s an amazing game in its own right.

Runner-Up: The Gunstringer
