Tony Hawk returns in 2015

Tony Hawk

If there’s one genre that has been missing for too long in gaming right now, it’s skateboarding games. The last truly decent title released along those grinding lines was EA’s Skate 3 back in 2010. The Tony Hawk franchise was still around then, but it had become a poor parody of itself, bailing out and delivering a sub-standard game every year. It got to a point where the series eventually went dormant, with the last true game being Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground in 2007. But it looks like the Hawk will fly again.

Because according to the man himself, Activision is working on a new title right now:

That makes me way too happy. Especially if said new game isn’t along the lines of those other Tony Hawk games, such as Shred and Ride. In fact, the best Tony Hawk game may just be one that was a nod to the past in the form of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD which was released back in 2012. Slick new visuals, classic gameplay and a return to basics that resonated so well resulted in one fine-ass HD remastering.

That’s the kind of Tony Hawk game I want to see, one that takes the ideas of yesterday and dresses them up in the flair of today. Hell, pinch some ideas from EA while you’re at it, and throw in some of those analogue stick control scheme ideas for good measure as well.

The only question however, is which studio is handling this game? Neversoft is now dead, but I’d put easy money on Robomodo being in charge after the franchise after proving their skating chops with the HD remaster. And I’d have no problem with that grind whatsoever.

The last Tony Hawk game that I played and enjoyed was THPS 2. So this could be cool.

Yeah. Wish I can have THPS2 with the manual tricks and the double/triple flip mechanics of THPS4. And the return of Sim mode of THPS2.

2 was the bestest, its all about the sound track.
3 was good aswell though, the parks and maps were great in that.

the underground series was a good attempt at a different approach, but it was a bit too lackluster.

tbh id be happy with a brand new copy of thps 2/3, like the exact same game with modern graphics.

I didn’t play 3 enough to really be able to give an honest opinion about it. I never had it myself, only played at friends.

One of my all time “Great Gaming Moments” was THPS2 on my PS2 doing a Mctwist over a Helicopter from the top of a roof. This was also my first PS2 game ever bought!

Open world skating game would be awesome… seek out your own stairs and gaps with skate parks around each district

I wouldn’t mind seeing a game collection release like halo did with Master Cheif Collection id love to play through the story based ones underground, underground 2, project 8 & proving grounds. With songs like the old aggressive inline game that soundtrack was great as hell maybe a collection of all the tony hawk games songs.
