Forza 3 Ultimate Edition Responds To Gran Turismo 5 – Teams Up With Top Gear

Microsoft have just announced that in October of this year, we will see the release of a brand new Ultimate Edition of Forza 3.

The Ultimate Edition will ship with all of the previously available DLC on the disc as well as something a little more special. That’s right, Microsoft have teamed up with the blokes from Top Gear to ensure that Forza 3 isn’t soon forgotten.

More after the jump.

Forzamotosport.net have posted up what we can expect from the new Top Gear partnership with features that will be included in the Ultimate Edition. Here they are:

“Stig’s Garage Car Pack” — This free Add-on Pack is exclusive for Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection owners and will feature three of the hottest supercars around: the Lexus LFA, the Koenigsegg CCX, and the Mercedes-Benz SLS-AMG. Look for profiles on all three of these amazing rides here at forzamotorsport.net in the coming weeks.

Exclusive Top Gear video feature — Produced exclusively for Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection owners, this free downloadable 90-minute feature will be a compilation of Top Gear segments showcasing the variety and insight that has become the series’ hallmark.

Xbox LIVE Top Gear Premium Theme — Put the Stig on your dashboard; this free exclusive Top Gear dashboard theme will only be available for Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection owners.

It seems pretty clear to me that Microsoft and Turn 10 have made this important deal with the world’s most popular car show in order to try and not disappear completely after the launch of Gran Turismo 5 later this year.

It’s a big deal for them, and a great amount of content for any Xbox 360 gamer but I still don’t know if it will be able to keep any eyes off of the spectacularly good looking and feature filled Gran Turismo 5 with much ease.

Gran Turismo 5 still has the Top Gear test track, and that’s what all the fans really want. It’s highly possible that Gran Turismo 5 will retain the exclusivity of the test track for a short time after launch, with Microsoft eventually being able to release it for Forza 3 later down the line.

It’s a good attempt from Microsoft (especially to capture European interest using the Stig and Top Gear, hopefully they can involve Top Gear in Forza 4), but definitely not enough. If GT5 doesn’t ship PS3s, then I’m never wearing my superman suit ever again.

I don’t see anything great here? I mean the only cool thing is the car pack and there’s nothing special about it except the word “stig” in the title. They really needed the test track.

Point taken, The Stig without the test track is rather pointless.

However, I believe the test track is licensed to Polyphony Digital, which is in my opinion is the best. I can always imagine myself as the Stig, on the test track.

    Now all they need is:

    – 3D.
    – Head tracking.
    – Karting.
    – Nascar.
    – Rally.
    – Day and night transition racing.
    – Weather changes and effects.
    – A track Editor.
    – A couple hundred more cars.
    – Better graphics.
    – More tracks.
    – Better audio.
    – More discs.
    – World class sponsorship deals.
    – Test tracks.

Im sure im forgetting plenty more. Add all this and finally Forza will be relevant again

Sorry i know that was childish but after all the GT hate and abuse over the years and Dan Greenwalts big mouth a couldnt resist this little dig

Dan Greenwalt really should learn to shut his mouth, I am sure Kazunori is busy doing it for him at the moment.

-16 cars on track as opposed to 8
-1080p native 60fps in cockpit view, forza is not 60fpd in cockpit view, unless that changed, but im fairly certain
    -Better menus
    -better loading times
-better damage, i don’t care what u haters think!
-More realistic gear ratios, when i drive in forza i use 3 or 4th gear exclusively, in gt5 i use all gears, and they all important, im a bit shy of 1st gear in gt5 though

ya i saw but in the gt5 pods the game looked ace enough.
I think the big screens were not setup correctly, but i acknowledge the jaggies, but they were not bad at all, you could tell its 2xAA which is not too shabby for a console.

Is anyone really surprised by this? MS try to nickel and dime every cent they can. People still think one solitary feature like playing online is worth $60 and shouldnt be free. Also funny how the mainstream media arent reporting any of this like MS have them in their pocket. I scanned N4G to see any news of this Forza turmoil and all i saw was one negative GT5 article. Thats pretty mild. Usually there are two or three negative GT5 articles 😆

“hey since you guys are in the buisness of selling playstations can you tell me where to get a good price on one. its nice to know that the studio turn 10 is no more, at least i hope it is for your sake, because god forbid you ever decide to try and make another game you wont have many followers. “Forza where Dreams are driven into the ground” may be you should change the name to turn over ten times or turn ur back on your faithful tun 10 doesnt fit well for your sorry excuse for a studio. then again i cant complain i bought this game off some little kid for 5 bucks at the time i thought i did well now i realizd it got ripped.

I still paint and I still race (21 to 31 laps in private) although not for the last week because my wheel has stopped working!

I came on here to see whats what and I see the words “Ultimate Collection” and note the LFA and SLS AMG on screen, already my heads calculating how much racing I need to do and what cars I may sacrifice to get hold of these treasures then I read…

“Look for the Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection on store shelves”…

So I got to pay what, about 30GBP for just to get hold of two cars that should have been released in DLC? The two cars that SOOOO many people have been crying out for but will have to shell out 30 odd pounds to own.

Oh Turn 10. You really do listen don’t you. You know people will pay the money just for these two. I bet whoever came up with this sales pitch got a FAT golden handshake. There is no passion for motor racing and automotive exotica in T10….just a passion for making money in an underhand way out of those who have played the game seriously for months on end with much cash and time investment.

No doubt some idiot who has bought all the DLC and will pay for Forza Ultimate Rip Off will turn round and say “well don’t buy it then” You know what… I won’t you sad shallow sap! I will not buy anything anything related to F3 again. At a time when there are so many good games out and more on the way my 30 quid will def’ be better spent elsewhere.

This is all in extremely poor taste and for myself and many others the last straw and given the direction F4 is going, Forza is not going to be the premier racing sim on the market.

You brag about your car modelling and decal system…much of the modelling is actually pretty sloppy and noticeable when painting cars…and many of the decals, even the original in game ones, are not as sharp as they should be but hey, I have let that slide for my love of cars and racing.

Oh as for the Top Gear extra content, that will be replaying on the DAVE channel next year FOR FREE lol.

    Your first line should read…

“Available in North American retail stores in late October, Forza Motorsport 3 Ultimate Collection is the definitive retail package for faithful fans who want to be ripped off and experience the racing almost as good as F1 2010”

Another fan lost….not that T10 has any presence on here anymore! lol

I very rarely make comments on the blog, or make any disparaging remarks towards Turn 10, due to the countless hours I have already spent on the Forza Motorsport franchise since it first came out. Up until this week it has been in my top three games of all time, alongside X-COM and Metal Gear Solid.

However, this latest news smacks every loyal fan in the mouth. You truly do not deserve your user base. I only wish I had a PS3 so I too may make the move to Gran Turismo 5. Until I do, I will spend my time with F1 2010 and Race Pro, which, despite lacking the polish of the FM franchise, provide their fans with what they want.

    Disgraceful.

And I suggest that all of you who used to be fans, do the same as a protest.

this is our hard earned cash you’re talking about.

you ignore you’re fans? (even those who payed extra for the CE?)

    fine by me.

The point is this, GT5 has been delayed yet again! The original cars announced to be released with the game are now pretty much classics they so old. Forza could also have a gazzilion copies of the same car if they had missed their release by a couple of years. At the moment Im enjoying a fairly good car game, with 400+ cars, everyone waiting for GT5 is stuck with 30, in a demo that was sold for just as much as a brand new AAA title. Sorry, who is the money hungry company again. Yeah, Microsoft might only have added a handful of content, but at least Im getting a full game!!
