If you’ve been anxiously awaiting proof that they Mayans had it right and that we are now truly living in the End Times, then this is it. The Los Angeles Times is reporting that production studio Lionsgate Entertainment may go ahead with more sequels in the Twilight saga, despite author Stephanie Meyer not having penned any more novels to adapt.

Lionsgate acquired Summit – the studio that previously produced the Twilight films – for $400 million last week, and it’s quite clear that Lionsgate chief executive Jon Feltheimer is now looking at ways to milk make the most out of the popular vampire franchise.

When asked about whether or not there was more in the future of the franchise, now that it’s at it’s new home, Feltheimer responded accordingly:

“I’m anticipating ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2‘ being $700 million-plus in worldwide box office. It’s hard for me to imagine a movie that does $700 million-plus doesn’t have ongoing value. It’s an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration. So the simple answer is ‘Boy I hope so.'”

However, an unnamed unnofficial source also told the LA Times that you may possibly be seeing The Continued Adventures of Bella and Edward on a small screen near you. Lionsgate has a television production unit which may be perfect for the series. The show’s premise would lend itself well to the teen/supernatural soapie format that has proved so popular in recent years.

However, if that were to happen, I highly doubt that you would be seeing stars Kristin Stewart and Robert Pattinson reprising their roles. Both have many other film projects lined up which should keep them busy. Stewart also still has to make time in her schedule to collect her diploma for graduating top of her class at Steven Segal school of acting.
