The vault is opening on dozens of Disney films

I’ve fallen in love with the blu-ray medium as of late. I’m a sucker for extras, and high definition is a sharp treat for my eyes. Heck, I can’t even watch anything in standard definition anymore, without my eyeballs sealing themselves shut in protest.

But not all my favourite films are available on Blu-Ray. And as an avid lover of classic Disney films, this saddened me. Until I heard that Mickey Mouse was releasing updated HD DVDs of some of these films. The first batch of films being blu-rayed, arrives in May, with more releases in June and July. They include:

  • Father of the Bride
  • Bringing down the house
  • The colour of money
  • Cocktail
  • Ransom
  • Under the Tuscan sun
  • Sister Act
  • Evita
  • Phenomenon
  • Step up
  • Home on the range
  • Treasure Planet

After that, a new release of films include some actual gems this time around:

  • Adventures in Babysitting,
  • Grosse Pointe Blank
  • Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion
  • The Rescuers
  • High Fidelity
  • Ed Wood
  • Judge Dredd
  • Ghost of the Abyss 3D
  • Lady And The Tramp 2: Scamp’s Adventure
  • Pocahontas
  • The Tigger Movie
  • The Aristocats
  • Pete’s Dragon.
And come October, this
  • Hocus Pocus
  • Arachnophobia
  • The Hand That Rocks The Cradle
  • Son of Flubber
  • Cold Creek Manor
  • The Santa Clause Trilogy
  • The Absent-Minded Professor
  • Flubber
  • While You Were Sleeping
  • Sweet Home Alabama
  • Beaches
  • Babes in Toyland
  • Atlantis: The Lost Empire
  • Brother Bear
  • Dick Tracy.

It’s a mixed bag of releases to be honest, but the bulk of the good ones are most definitely in the middle release. What say you, is there anything listed there that you must own a higher definition copy of?
