Daniel Craig will be Bond for at least two more movies

Being Bond ain’t easy, as having to dodge explosions, bullets, foil world domination schemes, (pretend) sleep with beautiful actresses and come up with witty puns on the spot can take a toll on the actor behind the role.

Sean Connery and Roger Moore handled the 007 gig for quite a few films each, while George Lazenby only managed one, with Timothy Dalton getting two shots with the Walter PPK, leaving Pierce Brosnan to work his charm across four films. Current Bond actor, Daniel Craig, has done it three times already, and he’s going to be expanding that number to five.

Deadline has confirmed that after Skyfall, the 23rd Bond film, Craig will be up for two more MI6 movies at least, to be released possibly sometime in 2014 and 2016, with Sony co-financing his exploits alongside MGM.

That put’s an end to the lengthy sabbatical that the franchise took between Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, as there was a four year gap between the two, thanks in part to the fact that Bond financier MGM Studios had been hit with financial issues left and right.

Still, those hiatus periods have also allowed for Skyfall to receive some further polish, something that Craig and director Sam Mendes claim have been very beneficial overall.

Still, switching back to a two-year development cycle may be a bit hectic for Craig and the crew involved, but at the same time, he’s not exactly getting any younger, so there’s that side of the coin.

What do you think? Are you keen for four more years of Daniel Craig and his cynical, hardened approach to the character, or are you hoping for some fresh blood to take over the franchise after Skyfall?

  1. Cool he is the best Bond EVER, because out of all of the Bonds he actually looks like an ex SAS officer.
