Raise a pint to these new images for THE WORLD'S END

If you’ve not seen Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, parts uno and dos of Edgar Wright/Simon Pegg/Nick Frost’s “Blood and Cornetto Trilogy” then I’m going to assume that somebody has introduced the back of your skull to a viscera streaked cricket bat, as rampant brain damage is the only viable excuse for missing them.

Especially since, despite the fact that the months until its release is rapidly counting down, we’ve seen very little of The World’s End, the final part of the trilogy, so you need to get every little fix you can. Luckily, today we get a couple of of new glimpses of the camaraderie and impending doom that awaits.

In “The World’s End,” 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub – The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

That’s the first proper look (well minus the beers in their faces of course) of the five friends all together. In order from left to right that’s Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, Sherlock) as estate agent Oliver, Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum, Tyrannosaur)as ex rocker turned architect Steven, Simon Pegg (Star Trek, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol), as layabout pub crawl instigator Gary, Nick Frost (Adventures of Tintin, Paul, Attack the Block)as lawyer and Gary’s ex-best friend Andy as Eddie Marsan (Sherlock Holmes, Snow White and the Huntsman) as car salesman Peter.

While that pic serves as a nice introduction to the main characters, the other one serves as nice introduction the ginger-haired crazy that Pegg is probably going to bring here. It gives a nice sense of foreboding, while not giving away any plot details, especially about exactly what the main threat of the film is. All we know is that the name of each pub they go to will tie into what they have to fight. So I’m guessing they have to battle through listening to a Chris Brown album at the The Famous Cock then?

Thanks you very much, I’ll be here all week. Be sure to tip your waiter.

The World’s End is set for release on October 25, 2013.
