Find out if Sandra Bullock is a boy or a girl in these two new clips and incredible new poster for THE HEAT

Oh what a difference a poster makes… While I certainly enjoyed Bridesmaids, I immediately found myself all Melissa McCarthy’d out. As such, I wasn’t really looking forward to The Heat, the odd couple action comedy that would see McCarthy reteam with director Paul Feig as well as playing bad cop to Sandra Bullock’s straight laced special agent.

Trailers for the “comedy” certainly didn’t change my meh-ntal state, and neither did these two newly released clips. And then they unveiled the Mondo poster…

Before we get to that slice of awesomeness, everybody first needs to pay their dues, so here are two new clips from the film, with the first proving that alcohol makes white girls act strange, and the second not only investigating Bullock’s gender but also trying to discover if she’s a “naaahk”.

Now whereas I personally found those two clips about as exciting as doing my taxes, the exact opposite is true for this retro beauty of a poster that was done by famed poster creators Mondo and will be handed out for free during limited showings at Alamo Drafthouse cinemas across America.

Created by Mondo artist Tom “The Dude Designs” Hodge, this poster is about as close as we can come to neatly packaging everything that made the 1980’s amazing. Okay, yes, Melissa McCarthy’s face does look nothing like her, but hey nobody’s perfect. Although this poster comes pretty close.

Here’s Hodge describing where he drew his inspiration for the poster from:

“‘The Heat’ poster was an exciting design to take on. Galvanized by the awesome power of VHS cover art I set to work creating the ultimate 80s action buddy cop visual, drawing out the humor in an explosion of over the top action.”

Director Paul Feig also loved the poster the minute he saw it, claiming that “When they sent me their take I cracked up as they really nailed it.” Damn straight, they nailed it. Now let’s just see if the movie can come even remotely close to living up to it.

Uptight and straight-laced, FBI Special Agent Sarah Ashburn (Sandra Bullock) is a methodical investigator with a reputation for excellence–and hyper-arrogance. Shannon Mullins (Melissa McCarthy), one of Boston P.D.’s “finest,” is foul-mouthed and has a very short fuse, and uses her gut instinct and street smarts to catch the most elusive criminals. Neither has ever had a partner, or a friend for that matter. When these two wildly incompatible law officers join forces to bring down a ruthless drug lord, they become the last thing anyone expected: buddies

The Heat will be burning up cinemas on June 28, 2013.
