Doc Who Day of the Doctor (1)

Christmas is coming a little early this year, sweetie! 23 November to be exact, as that’s when Doctor Who’s highly anticipated 50-year Anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor, gets released and we not only finally get the answer to the mystery of John Hurt’s Doctor actually is, my wife and I also get to resume our argument on who’s the greatest Doctor, Matt Smith or David Tennant (for the record, it’s Smith).

We’ve seen one CGI-only teaser trailer, and if you blew your sonic screwdriver on that one, wait till you see this first full trailer.

“In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him.”

What I’m trying to say, now that I’ve regained motor function again, is holeeeeeee crap! That looks amazing, boasting the type of all-out, balls to the wall, kitchen sink styled sci-fi action like only Doctor Who can deliver. And I know it’s barely a second long, but damn that shot of Smith in the fez smirking at Tennant made me grin.

Day of the Doctor will be airing locally on BBC Entertainment (Channel 120 on DSTV) on November 23 at 21:50, joining in the worldwide simultaneous broadcast. Remember though, this coming Saturday, November 16, BBC will be posting a 7-minute long minisode online, titled Night of the Doctor, with the site teasing that it will feature one Doctor, “but which one?”.

I’m still trying to find out if BBC South Africa will also airing be An Adventure in Space in Time, the docu-drama chronicling the origins of the TV series’ creation, but once I know something concrete, I will pass it along.

Yeah, I’m recovered. Years of weekend long LAN-ning has prepared my body well. As to Adventure in Space and Time. Spoke to BBC yesterday, and they said that they’re trying to get as much content as possible, but currently the only thing that’s been confirmed is Day of the Doctor.
