Extras! Justin Lin gets Bourne, Marvel series could be movies, Wolverine gets a suit, Nightwing casting rumours, How to make Gravity, And Nic Cage has been cast out to China! Plus much more!

Welcome to The Extras! A daily dose of all the smaller movie related news, clips and just plain cool stuff that you might have missed!

We’re a couple of weeks away from the Blu Ray release of The Wolverine, so you know what that means, right? Yep, somebody in Russia already has a copy and is busy ripping out scenes to post on the internet. And for once, I’m all in favour of it, as we get an early look at this deleted alternate ending, which shows off a certain little black and yellow number that should get the fanboys excited.

No telling how long Fox will allow this to stay online so gets ta clickin’!

Update: Video has been removed, so you’ll have to make due with this pic we previously posted, showing off the classic yellow and black costume that Wolverine is given by Yukio as a gift as they’re sitting together on the plane at the end of the movie.

Update 2: We got lawsuited to take the image away, so whatever you, don’t go to Google Image Search and look for “Wolverine Movie Costume”. That would be naughty.

Star Wars  has been translated into hundreds of different languages (though I have a feeling that folks capable of speaking a couple African languages never had any problems understanding the Jawas – “Wootini!”), but one language it has never been translated into, is one of the most American of languages. And no, I’m not talking about whatever that is that hillbillies talk. I’m referring to Navajo, and Star Wars has now become the first major motion picture to be fully dubbed into the Native American language.

The Nicolas Cage and Hayden Christensen starring Outcast, a big budget martial arts period piece, has officially begun filming in China. No, I also never thought I would  ever have to type those words in that sequence. The Chinese-French co-production is the directorial debut of award winning British stunt director Nick Powell (The Bourne Identity) and follows “a mysterious warrior who teams with the daughter and son of a deposed Chinese emperor to defeat their cruel uncle, who seeks their deaths.”

Is it just me or does Simon Pegg, in this first pic from Australian thriller Kill Me Three Times, also remind you of young Sean Connery in Zardoz, only minus the ponytail and actually not wearing “clothes” that look like they belong in an S&M dungeon?

Remember last week when Latino Review posted a rumour that Nightwing might be in Batman vs Superman? The operative word there being rumour. See, the folks at the Wrap posted another rumour over the weekend that Girls star Adam Driver may be considered for the part, and of course in the world of movie journalism that made the rumour fact and everybody started throwing up very excited headlines saying that this was a done deal.

While Driver actually does fit with the description of the character used in LR’s original story, and by all accounts, he’s a great actor, I’m still not convinced we’ll be seeing Nightwing in Batman vs Superman. It seems odd that they wouldn’t hold back the character for the inevitable Bats solo movie.

Speaking of Batman vs Superman, we might actually need to start speaking about it using a different name. Kevin Smith moderated a Man of Steel fan event over the weekend, featuring director Zack Snyder and stars Henry Cavill, Michael Shannon and Amy Adams, and while the panel was not very forthcoming with any details for the film’s highly anticipated sequel, it was confirmed that “Batman vs Superman” is not the film’s official title… but for the sake of propriety, that’s what everybody’s using currently.

The only other details that emerged was that Superman’s final act in Man of Steel  – you know which one – will have ramifications in the sequel, Lex Luthor may be in the sequel, and Batman and Superman may start out friendly and then fight or first fight and then become friendly. So yeah, a whole lot of nothing.

Character posters are usually the domain of genre films – and in particular, genre films who want to keep their promo campaigns ticking over but don’t really have a new trailer read yet – but apparently they can also be used for sweeping dramas starring Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman, as can be seen in these 5 new character posters for The Railway Man.

Looks like all those years of filming quick edit gear shifts in those Fast & Furious movies has finally paid for director Justin Lin. Deadline is reporting that Universal has offered Lin the reins on the next Bourne film, which will once again focus on Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross, star of the previous spinoff The Bourne Legacy, and not on Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne.

I have to admit, Lin is a bit of an odd choice. Sure he’s turned the F&F franchise into a money making beast, but his over the top directing style is not what I think of when I think of Bourne. Plus, Bourne Legacy writer/director Tony Gilroy, who penned all the previous Bourne movies, has been so intrinsically involved in the franchise and did a fairly great job on the previous film, that it’s weird that he’s not just offered the director’s chair again. He won’t even be writing the script, which will now be done by Invictus and Sherlock Holmes scribe Anthony Peckham.

Dear bootleg DVD cover makers, I think you guys have, erm, cocked this one up.

The American Film Market is currently going down, and a bunch of filmmakers and production houses are busy hawking their wares, trying to land a studio distribution deal. And unfortunately, some of these movies are… Well, just take a look at Variety’s list of The 10 Most Outrageous Posters from AFM and see for yourself. I mean, Sneezing Baby Panda: The Movie? Really?!

So that Marvel and Netflix deal? That was quite the doozy last week, and it looks like some the details are still rolling in. One of those details, which lots of fans have asking about, is whether the stars of these 4 new series – Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones – will be showing up on the big screen as well. According to Disney CEO Bob Iger, that’s a no. For now.

“[Netflix] is a great opportunity to create more brand value and character value… Marvel has thousands of characters. It is not possible to mine them all with filmed entertainment. While these [four] characters are attractive, they are not among the most popular, and they’re characters that we probably were never going to make feature films about. [But if the characters prove popular on Netflix], it’s quite possible that they could become feature films.”

I’ve seen Gravity twice already, and even with the repeated viewings and my keen attention to detail (EYES OF THE HAWK! HAWK. hawk…) I still can’t tell you how Alfonso Cuaron and co created most of the shots in the movie. Thanks FX group Prime Focus World’s Richard Baker and Matthew Bristowe, I can at least start scratching a few shots off that list of mysteries.
