Thor, Captain America and the Avengers have all been home-runs for Marvel and Disney so far. Superhero movies are big money, with audiences keen to spend coin on them. But the next big film from Marvel, isn’t a hero movie. It’s a sci-fi action flick, a genre that has so far been unable to make much cash.
But can Guardians of the Galaxy buck Roger that trend? The first trailer for that film is only a couple of hours away, and while I won’t be posting trailers for a trailer, pictures are a different matter. Check ’em out yo:
First up, check out your main man. Chris Pratt stars as Peter Quill, a kid abducted from Earth at the age of 9 and raised in in the cold vacuum of space.
When the going gets tough, the guardians have a way of getting the hell out of town. Meet the Milano, their signature spaceship as it flies out of Xandar air space, which also happens to house the Nova Corps.
The boys, lady, sentient tree and Rocket Raccoon are back in town! From left to right, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Bradley Cooper voices Rocket Raccoon, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Starlord. Vin Diesel voices Groot and Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer.
Guardians of the Galaxy is out in August this year.

But I though Guardians of the Galaxy was a comic book hero movie, or at least a team of them. I haven’t actually looked at it as a sci-fi action flick

Not in the traditional sense. They’re more like a loose collective of space-cops who don’t follow the rules and make their various space-sergeant cops very angry and holy shit I need to make a movie of that.

From wikipedia…
“Guardians of the Galaxy is a fictional SUPERHERO team appearing in books published by Marvel Comics.”
If they say it, then it must be true

They’re superheroes in the same way the dudes from Badboys were superheroes. There is nothing special about them compared to everything around them, they’re just kinda like cops with a bad reputation and a knack for breaking rules.
