Mel Gibson is going to get taken in BLOOD FATHER

Love or hate him, but there’s no denying that Mel Gibson knows how to portray an upper-f**ker of people when he’s in front of the camera for a change. Despite being a bit long in the tooth, there’s a certain fad right now in seeing seniors go on a killing spree, as evidenced in Taken and The Expendables. And it looks like you’ll be able to link both those franchises to Mel Gibson soon.

Mel Gibson

Jean-Francois ” Mesrine” Richet is currently looking to recruit the former RIIIIIIGS to his next project, which would star Gibson as an ex-con/former Hell’s Angel biker in a “Taken-style” action thriller movie. Based on a novel which the original author, Peter Craig, has turned into a script, Richet is looking to start shooting soon.

According to Deadline, the movie would cast Gibson as “an ex-con who reunites with his estranged wayward 16-year old daughter to protect her from drug dealers that are trying to kill her.” Throw in a few guns, some licensed AC/DC music and an obligatory torture scene to keep Gibson happy, and we have what sounds like a solid film. Here’s the official book synopsis, for more exposition:

It’s been three years since Lydia Carson ran away from her privileged home in West Los Angeles. Just 17 years old, she’s gotten involved with an older man who supplements his income with shady, mysterious activities. One afternoon Lydia finds herself guarding the back door of a house in Topanga Canyon during a shakedown. As murderous violence erupts, Lydia herself becomes a target. She escapes down a creek and through the hillsides to the shore–alone, destitute, and frightened. Her last option is John Link, her blood father, who has just come off a long prison sentence for violent crimes of his own.

Link jumps at the chance to rescue his daughter, but after several days he realizes that her situation is far more dangerous and complicated than he thought. Link is forced to return to his former wild lifestyle in order to protect his daughter, revisiting dangerous former allies and hideouts. In the process, a father and daughter begin to find each other–and the danger that might consume them.

Blood Father will shoot in May, in New Mexico. Once Richet locks down his lead actor. Gibson on the other hand, can be seen in the next Expendables film as the main villain who happens to eat a lot of spinach judging by the fact that he has bulked up considerably for the role.

I could happily watch Mel beat up people on screen.

Its such a pity that Gibson has turned himself into a Hollywood pariah with his rants, coz the guy still makes really good movies.
