Hands up, all the guys that have watched videos of Sasha Grey on the internet (I’m afraid I’m going to need both hands up for this one; no idea what you’re doing beneath the table). I’m guessing that’s a lot of you. So can you really blame Elijah Wood when he takes things a little too far in spying on the former pornstar, after a stranger somehow manages to get him digital access to her life? Of course you can! Online stalking is never the answer.

What it is though, is a very unique hook for Timecrimes director Nacho Vigalondo’s latest thriller, Open Windows, as the entire film plays out on the screen of Wood’s character’s computer. It’s a damn intriguing twist, and based on how incredibly inventive Vigalondo’s past work is, as well as Wood’s rather intriguing most recent body of work (Maniac, Grand Piano)this is definitely something I want to check out.

Jill (Grey), the most exciting actress of the moment, refuses to have dinner with Nick (Wood), a fan who won a date with her in an Internet contest organized by the distributor of her latest film.

In return, a man named Chord, who is posing as Jill’s campaign manager, helps Nick to follow in the footsteps of the actress from his own computer. Nick starts a game in which he realizes that is only a puppet into the manic plans devised by Chord, to hunt down the star.

The film is told across Nick’s computer desktop and through the various “open windows” a labyrinthine, Hitchcockian thriller unfolds.

Open Windows hits limited theatres on September 29, 2014.
