This trailer for THE FLASH is a bit of a showoff!

I’m still trying to wrap my head around just how good The Flash has been. When I first heard the news that the scarlet speedster was spinning out of CW’s Arrow, I was intrigued. But then I heard of the casting of Glee‘s Grant Gustin as Barry Allen and saw the first set pics of him in the suit, and suddenly things weren’t so gleeful any more. And then I actually watched the show… And I’ll be damned if this isn’t one fun, exciting show with incredibly likeable characters and rather impressive effects. There were a few niggles (I still develop an insatiable urge to introduce Cisco’s face to a ball peen hammer every time he does that goofy grin), but certainly nowhere near to the growing pains that its parent show, Arrow, had in its debut run. You could even say that The Flash hit the ground running and hasn’t slowed down yet. And yes, I just said it.

Audiences and critics alike have responded equally positively to the show, and CW has answered that response by picking up the show for a full season of episodes. And with the character and his world now already established in the first few episodes, the network has released a brand new trailer that highlights some of the action that will be heading our way in the episodes to come (specifically episodes 4 through 9), which will see the return of Arrow season 2 villain Clock King (Robert Knepper), as well introducing new superpowered villains like the metallic Girder (Greg Finley), the explosive Plastique (Kelly Frye) and the electrifying Blackout/Farooq (Michael Reventar).

After a particle accelerator causes a freak storm, CSI Investigator Barry Allen is struck by lightning and falls into a coma. Months later he awakens with the power of super speed, granting him the ability to move through Central City like an unseen guardian angel. Though initially excited by his newfound powers, Barry is shocked to discover he is not the only “meta-human” who was created in the wake of the accelerator explosion – and not everyone is using their new powers for good. Barry partners with S.T.A.R. Labs and dedicates his life to protect the innocent. For now, only a few close friends and associates know that Barry is literally the fastest man alive, but it won’t be long before the world learns what Barry Allen has become…The Flash.
