We’re back baby! With Christmas over and various shops having survived the December 26 returns day, it was time to hunker down and watch some new movies in a new year. But it looks like 2014 was still dominating, as The Hobbit: Battle Of The Five Armies dominated once again.
Proving that there was indeed only one movie to rule them all, The Hobbit dominated the number one spot for the third weekend in a row at the North American box office. Opening up at just over 2600 locations, The Woman In Black 2 opened up to a total haul of $15.1 million. That’s down from the original film, which made $20.9 million on openning, and also lower than similar films such as Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones ($18.7 million). Top ten departures this week include Wild and Exodus: Gods And Kings. Ridley Scott’s biblical epic hasn’t exactly matched the scale of the old testament, with the film only hauling in $202 million over a four week run, cementing itself as the 11th bonus plague of Egypt according to tepid review and word of mouth.
