Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 was…not very good. It was an alright movie, but it was hardly a return to form for witty Jack and his high sea adventures. It still made bank at the box office however, paving the way for a fifth film in the franchise that reunites Johnny Depp with Geoffrey Rush,Kevin R. McNally, and Stephen Graham who reprising their roles as Barbossa, Gibbs, and Scrum. Called Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the film has finally kicked off production. And it also has a proper plot now:

pirates

Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.

That villain is played by Skyfall’s Javier Bardem, and he’ll be joined by Kaya “The Maze Runner” Scodelario, Brenton “The Giver” Thwaites and  Golshifteh “The Patience Stone” Farahani. It’s a solid cast of new and old faces, ina  film that will be directed by Kon-Tiki helmers Espen Sandberg & Joachim Rønning.

So, anyone had enough of Jack Sparrow yet, or are you ready to set sail once again?

I don’t think I even watched the previous one. In which one did Legolas become a Siren?

Um… I’m sorry, but these movies have just gotten worse as they went along. I still LOVE Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. But it’s been steadily going downhill since then. The last movie, though slightly entertaining, was a mere shadow of the original… Maybe they can do something with this one – take it back to its former glory… But, somehow, I doubt it.
