I may not understand American football, but I do understand that the TV landscape is changing. And when you’ve got the bankable charisma of Jabronie-smackin’ peoples champ on your show, you know that your network has plugged a ton of cash into a new series. So what happens when you mix Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson with said sort-of-rugby and a show that smacks of Entourage?

Looking at the lives of former and current football players, the show follows former superstar Spencer Strasmore (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) as he gets his life on track in retirement while mentoring other current and former players through the daily grind of the business of football.
Ballers also stars Rob Corrdry, Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Donovan Carter, Troy Garity, Jazmyn Simon, and Arielle Kebble. It’ll be scoring home-run penalty sin bin laps (SPERTS) from June 21 on HBO, right in time for the DuperBowl.
