Phase 2 is almost behind us. With just Ant-Man left to close off the current line-up of Marvel movies, it’s time to start looking ahead to Phase 3 of the superhero slate, which is going for broke in a series of films that’ll culminate in one massive two-parter.
I am of course talking about the upcoming third and fourth Avengers movies, Infinity War parts one and deux. And it looks like Captain America won’t be getting any rest after the events of Age Of Ultron. Speaking to Esquire via Collider, Cap star Chris Evans explained that shooting would begin soon for the third film in his series, Civil War, which would last until “August or September”.
From there, Evans will need to prep for Infinity War, which Evans described as being a 2016 shoot “that’s going to be like nine months to shoot both movies back to back.” That’s a ton of time to spend on a project, although Evans is handling it like an adult. ”You know, you plan around the Marvel responsibilities,” Evans said. “You have to.”
Infinity War will mark Evan’s sixth and seventh outings as the first Avenger. Which will most likely also be his final performances wielding the shield, as Evans was contracted for seven movies originally. Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 releases on May 4, 2018, and Avengers: Infinity War – Part 2 opens on May 3, 2019. Winter Soldier and Civil War directors Joe and Anthony Russo will also direct this massive space epic that sees Earth’s mightiest heroes take on the mad titan Thanos in a war for the all powerful Infinity stones.

So, if Chris Evans has his last movie as the Cap in Avengers 3.1 and 3.2 (I’ve seen an interview with him in the past where he stated he wouldn’t want to continue in the role past his current contract, simply because it’ll have been like 10 years in the same role), then do you think they’ll ‘reboot’ some of the characters (I’m sure RDJ will possibly be outta contract by then too), recast the characters with new actors or have, possibly, new/existing characters take over the role (eg. having Falcon become Captain America)?
