About a week ago, I finally got around to watching Hot Tub Time Machine 2. My advice to you: Don’t. Especially if, like me, you were both a fan of the original movie, as well as of franchise newcomer Adam Scott (Parks & Recreation). Luckily, Scott has a promising new R-rated comedy swinging coming out soon in The Overnight, which looks to wash out that bad taste in my mouth. With it’s own very weird, slightly unhinged, very adult taste.

And yes I know what “adult taste” sounds like which is why I’m just going to distract you with that poster up above before you can ask too many questions. So no, that is not an asterisk that the characters are being framed in. Community fans should get the symbolism straight away, while the rest of you will have to watch this new NSFW Red Band trailer for the flick, which looks to be all kinds of funny.

Alex, Emily, and their son, RJ, have recently moved to Los Angeles’ Eastside from Seattle. Feeling lost in a new city, they are desperate to find their first new friends. After a chance meeting with Kurt at the neighborhood park, they gladly agree to join family pizza night at the home. But as it gets later and the kids go to bed, the family “playdate” becomes increasingly more revealing and bizarre as the couples begin to open up.

The movie actually debuted at Sundance earlier in the year, and raked in plenty of commendations for its crazy raunchy humour (some of which you can see in the trailer), and looks to be a solid adult-orientated comedy to keep an (brown)eye out for.

The Overnight also stars Taylor Schilling, Jason Schwartzman, and Judith Godrèche, and gets a limited international release on June 19, 2015.
