As my wife and I are blitzing through a James Bond series rewatch in anticipation of Spectre, I am currently up to my shaken not stirred eyeballs in 007, having literally just finished watching Moonraker before writing this and about to start on For Your Eyes Only thereafter. And you know what? I still want more. I’m just that much of a Bond fanboy.
Which is why I’m still very excited for this new TV spot for Bond’s latest movie adventure despite it being only 30 seconds long. It is a pretty action-packed 30-seconds though, including car chases, ladies, fist fights and Daniel Craig’s 007 finally answering the question of why he became a spy. Apparently he’s not the religious sort.

A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.
And while that new TV spot may be pretty short, the same will most definitely not be said of the movie itself. Bond films have generally been pretty meaty affairs when it came to running time (Quantum of Solace is the franchise’s shortest at 106 minutes), but Spectre may just be its meatiest. It’s being reported (via DigitalSpy) that the Sam Mendes directed film clocks in at a butt-numbing 160 minutes, making it the longest Bond film ever. That’s 16 minutes longer than previous franchise running time champion Casino Royale, and 17 minutes longer than Mendes’ previous film Skyfall. If this is indeed Daniel Craig’s last stint at 007 as has been recently rumoured, at least it seems that he’ll be going out on the biggest movie in the series to date.
Along with that running time news, a pair of brand new posters as well as a new banner has been unveiled, and they… well, even for a fanboy like myself there’s now way to hide the fact that they’re pretty terrible. Luckily the movie seem to make up for the marketing’s blandness in spades.
SPECTRE also stars Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Ralph Fiennes as M,Christoph Waltz as Oberhauser, Monica Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra, David Bautista as Mr. Hinx, Léa Seydoux as Madeleine Swann and Stephanie Sigman as Estrella. It will be opening internationally on October 26, but we’ll have to wait until November 26 to get out Bond fix.

November 26th? Shweet – perfect ‘day-before-birthday’ birthday present I can give to myself. Cannot wait!
Funnily enough, my fiance’ and I have also started watching the Bond films from the beginning. And they are still great movies, just as I remember them – I feel like, as a whole, they’ve aged really well (some aspects are odd, shall we say. But hey it’s still impressive for the 60’s)! Goldfinger is still my favourite! 🙂
