The epic tale of boy wizard Harry Potter may be over (well at least on the big screen), but that doesn’t mean that we need to say goodbye entirely to the magical world created by author JK Rowling. At least not if Warner Bros’ accountants have anything to say about it. The studio is revitalizing their once top selling franchise with upcoming spinoff/prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where To Them, and thanks to EW (via ComingSoon) we now have our first look at it!

The film is set 70 years before the events of the Harry Potter books/films and stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, the Wizarding World’s most preeminent magizoooligist who travels the world to find and document all kinds of magical creatures (his writings would become the textbook “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them” used by Harry and co at Hogwarts). Besides for the jump into the past, this tale also leaves the British countryside and is actually set in New York, all of which are shown off the images below.

In addition to the pics, we also learn that some of the film will be set in the Magical Congress of the United States of America (or MACUSA), the entrance of which can be seen in the first image above and which “is the American version of the Ministry of Magic that’s housed inside the Woolworth Building in the film”. Also revealed are the character names of some of the cast, including Katherine Waterston as Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, and Dan Fogler as Jacob Kowalski.

Fantastic Beasts was directed by longtime Harry Potter helmer David Yates, and this franchise opener – yes, the plan is for this to lead to several more films – was actually scripted by JK Rowling herself. It also stars Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell, Ron Perlman, Jenn Murray, Jon Voight, Carmen Ejogo, Gemma Chan and newcomer Faith Wood-Blagrove, and is scheduled for release on November 18, 2016.
