the do-over

Adam Sandler is a reviewer’s nightmare. No matter how bad the movies get and how poorly you may rate them, you know people will keep see them and that the films will keep coming because they make lots of money. This is sadly something Hollywood knows all too well and Netflix has seen that star attraction in him as well. Following the success of their last collaboration with the star, The Ridiculous Six, comes the next production which has been announced and given a date, called The Do-Over and will see Sandler team up with another regular collaborator, David Spade.

The reveal doesn’t tell you much about the story, though you can already guess from all the different shots that it will be your typical Sandler fare with loads of slap-stick humour and silliness. It might make movie nerds cringe, but his many fans will be happy to know that they can expect business as usual from the star.

The film is an action comedy and has been given the following synopsis from Netflix:

The life of a bank manager is turned upside down when a friend from his past manipulates him into faking his own death and taking off on an adventure.

Netflix is certainly putting its money behind the star and the film has already attracted quite a strong supporting cast including Paula Patton (Warcraft),Kathryn Hahn (The Visit), Luis Guzman (We’re the Millers), Michael Chiklis(Fantastic Four), Sean Astin (50 First Dates), Catherine Bell (Bruce Almighty), Natasha Leggero (Neighbors), Nick Swardson (Just Go With It), Torsten Voges (Funny People), Renee Taylor (The Producers), and Matt Walsh (Ted).

I guess it doesn’t matter what else I say about the movie, millions of people will likely stream this from Netflix anyway. Are you one of those people excited for a new Sandler movie? I promise we won’t judge (okay – maybe just a little).

I’d choose Sandler over them too. Seth Rogen acting as Seth Rogan trying to act as someone else & that smug smirking twit.

Ridiculous 6 was a fun movie for me. The first Sandler movie since the days of Waterboy and Happy Gillmore I that I liked. So many misses in between!
