The guys at Joystiq miraculously managed to get a few moment to speak with Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the massively popular and respected Gran Turismo series.
The bad news is that they reported the following:
“According to the Polyphony Digital boss, his studio is focusing a majority of its efforts on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. In fact, he confirmed that the proper, disc-based Gran Turismo 5 might not even roll out before 2010.”
Ouch! That is really not cool that the wait is becoming so long. I do unfortunately have even more bad news for the series after the jump.
Ok, so for the next set of bad news… remember GT 4 Mobile?
Well, according to Kazunori, they haven’t forgotten about it (good news!), the problem is that they are still only planning to release it after the release of GT5. That means that poor saps like myself who were counting the days to its release are left in the knowledge that we have quite a large wait ahead of us until its probable release in 2011!
Joystiq reports that :
“With all of the work his company is putting into the next console GT installment, Yamauchi tells us that it hasn’t forgotten the long-delayed Gran Turismo 4 Mobile for PSP. He confirms that the game – originally announced at E3 2004 – is still actively in development, although it isn’t planned for release until after GT5. That would be 2011 for those with pen and calendar in hand.”
That makes me really sad as I was really looking forward to the handheld version not to mention that many people bought PSP’s in the early days with the promise of GT4M in the near future.
For the first time ever, I feel compelled to utilise an emoticon in one of my articles. So here goes:Â Â 🙁

Lol, another negative PS3 article that you have blown out of preportion:
“Might not roll out before 2010” So it may very well come out in 2009, just like they told us.
“Isn’t planned for release unti after GT5” So it might come out a month later and still be in 2009.
Funny how you can twist words to make up an article anyway you want…

not sure where he took article wrong. He said that the wait will be long. And joystiq qouted the developer on the 2010 date.

Remember those days long ago when GT5 was promised as a launch title? In the time its taken to come out the 360 has got Forza 2 and soon Forza 3. Maybe they could call GT: Forever

Damn it, what’s wrong with Polyphony Digital? Do they have like one guy making the game or something? I really like racing sims and I am very interested in GT5(got GT3, GT3 concept, GT4 prologue and GT4), but there is no way I am going to spend money on a demo. Not again! *Cough* GT4 prologue *Cough*.

Sony just used the PS3 to win the HD disc format war… It was a pawn in the rise of Blu-Ray!!!!!
