Anyone watching the live EA GamesCom press conference was treated to the first gameplay footage of Crysis 2’s multiplayer mode.
The game is looking great, and everything seems really solid but I have to honestly admit that it’s looking a heck of a lot like some other bog-standard war-games that we all know. I really do fear that with the city setting and a few other things added to the mix, it may actually be losing the actual magic that made Crysis so awesome in the first place.
What do you guys think? Is it turning into just another shooter? Watch the video and let us know in the comments.

the only thing that pisses me off about crysis 2 is that it will not look good on consoles, killzone will smash it to smithereens, and my pc wont be powerful enough plus i can’t lan it with many ppl and the single player campaign will probably be short, so im not sure about this game

When I first saw the city landscape I got really excited hoping that I would see something new and awesome. Sadly I was a little disappointed.

It’s starting to resemble a generic shooter to me. I never played the first one, primarily because my PC would never have survived it, so I can’t say I’m particularly interested in Crysis 2. It looks pretty though, but that’s about it really…

It’s rather sad that developers still consider New York to be an “exciting location”.

We can’t just judge a game on what location they set the game in, we can only judge on how they use that environment to make the game that it is, who knows they could take a well known game environment “New York’ and turn it into something special. Like Bear Grylls once said you can’t judge how shear a cliff is until you rub noses with it

You are 100% Correct, this game should have Bear Grylls in it. That is what you meant, right? :ninja:

Ya,Bear Grylls in a nano suit would be unstoppable, those wild rabbits will never know what hit them.

The developers didn’t make that decision; the story-writers did. As a huge fan of all of Crytek’s games (which, for now, are only Far Cry and Crysis — although Crysis Warhead and Crysis Wars are solid extensions of Crysis), I don’t play them for their multi-player functionality. To be honest, the multi-player FPS genre is a bit tapped out. You either have to make different landscapes, give the player unique ways to kill and/or survive, or create various modes of team play. I feel like if anyone is going to rejuvenate this space, it will be Crytek. Perhaps not through Crysis 2’s multi-player, but the rumors of a studio of theirs working on an FPS MMORPG sounds really promising. Personally, I tend to hope for the best with Crytek and I’ve yet to be let down.
