Well, it does seem like the superhero world can’t get enough of Aaron Taylor-Johnson. If headlining the hyper-violent masked vigilante ensemble in the Kick-Ass franchise wasn’t enough, Mr. Taylor-Johnson has now officially signed on to play Quicksilver in Marvel’s next Avengers movie, the Age of Ultron.
What is even more interesting, though, is that he will be playing on of two versions of the character that we will be seeing on the silver screen as the character is shared by Marvel and the studio behind Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. Evan Peters, from American Horror Story fame, will be playing the role of Quicksilver. The deal is, Marvel’s version of the character is not allowed to reference him being a mutant or being family of Magneto and the X-Men films are naturally not allowed to reference his Avengers ties.
Phew…it does sound like everyone wants a piece of Quicksilver and I’m very interested to see which version of the character the audience likes the most. Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlet Witch, will also feature in the Avengers film but her role is has not been cast yet. Elizabeth Olsen is reportedly the current frontrunner for the role.
So, what do you guys think? Is there enough space in Hollywood for two Quicksilvers? All I know is, this might make those Comic-con appearances a bit awkward.
