Telltale’s first episode of their Back to the future adventure game was released, sadly, to mostly middling review. Hopefully future episodes will be better – but if you’re planning on hooking your customers, you really ought to do it with episode numero uno.
The classic Back to the future series isn’t the only film licence they’ve snagged and are making into adventure games though. No, they’re hard at work brining Jurassic Park back to life., and according to the latest Game Informer, it draws unlikely inspiration from Quantic Dream’s Heavy Rain. What?
The story acts a sequel to the first film in the series, with an overlap of some events from that film. Players will be set against dinosaur threats, as well as human foes in the form of mercenaries and smugglers. Universal, who owns the IP didn’t want to revive the licence with another FPS, instead handing it to adventure aficionados Telltale.
The new game will still be an adventure game, only with “a bit more spiceâ€. Telltale’s believes that the game should feature slower-paced character-building and a real-time decision system, not unlike what we’ve seen in Heavy Rain. Executive director Kevin Boyle says players will also experience “tense portions that leave players scrambling and possibly performing Heavy Rain style inputsâ€.
Intriguing. This might be a bit of a spoiler, but I think the velociraptor did it.
