Christian-Bale-2013

The first biopic for Steve Jobs came out in 2013 with the imaginative title of Jobs and starred Ashton Kutcher as the iPhone creating genius. Sadly it wasn’t a very good film (although I think Kutcher was pretty decent) receiving just 44% on Metacritic. So I am weary but also a little excited by the news that Christian Bale is back in talks with director Danny Boyle (Sunshine, Slumdog Millionaire).

I say back in talks because Bale was first approached by director David Fincher but when he left the project Boyle put his sights on Leonard DiCaprio. Now I love me some DiCaprio on any day but I think Bale would better suit the role, as there is a much stronger physical resemblance.

THR is reporting that SONY is in talks with the once-Batman star to take lead in the untitled movie that has been adapted by Aaron Sorkin from the Walter Isaacson’s book. However, he wasn’t the first choice by any means. In fact Bradley Cooper, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were also considered for the role.

Personally I think Bale would do the best job (pun win!) here as he has proven he is able to almost magically change his physique into almost any shape – just compare his Batman to his character in The Machinist where he lost almost 30kgs! Jobs was always a very slight man and I think DiCaprio is a bit too stocky.

Also, today is Steve Jobs day. I kid you not, Google it.
