If there is one thing that has always been made increasingly apparent about the new 24: Legacy series, is that it’s an expansion and not a reboot. Although the series is set to feature a completely new cast while still following the same formula set by its predecessor, they are not seeing it as a mere reboot. It’s always been about building in the footsteps of Jack Bauer and not trying to replace him. It’s a good idea, as the show 24 is still fresh in man viewers minds and to simply replace Kiefer Sutherland with another actor would be too disrespectful.
However, despite the new show seeming to have almost little continuity with the first, despite its name, it now seems that we will get to see a familiar face in the new show after all. That of Chloe, who was played by Mary Lynn Rajskub. And while nothing is finalized, producer Evan Katz spoke about the plans in a recent interview with TV Line:
We have plans [for Chloe] … Right now, our clear priority is [establishing] these new characters, and have the audience build a relationship with them. But we have some surprises planned.
So, it appears the focus will still be on the new characters, but that they do have some surprises and plans in place for the audience. He is obviously not going to go into too much detail, but expect her and perhaps some other characters from the first series to pop-up in as cameo’s or even play a more extended role.
This follows on from a conversation earlier in the year from executive producer Manny Coto at this year’s Comic-Con:
It’s more of an expansion of the 24 universe. It’s not a reboot. Jack Bauer and Chloe [Mary Lynn Rajskub] are still out there. This is a new window into the 24 universe with a new perspective and a new character. You never know when those worlds may intersect.
Both have indicated that Chloe and Jack are both alive, though exactly what they are up to has not been revealed yet. I guess, it would defeat the whole purpose of watching the show if we told you everything wouldn’t it?
24: Legacy premieres on Fox after Super Bowl 51 on February 5th, 2017.
You can read the official synopsis below:
