One of my favourite movies ever was Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It proved that CGI had leapt over the uncanny valley and landed squarely on all fours then ran off on two legs after pinching your neighbour’s washing. Well expect to be blown away with this first trailer for War for the Planet 0f the Apes!

Oh my goodness, I am so excited! Woody Harrelson looking like a Heart of Darkness Kurtz, only meaner! I think Caesar has his work cut out for him here. Last time we saw him he killed his second in command Kobe, and with good reason, BAD APE! The intensity in that film was cranked all the way to 10 and I can see the same is going to happen here. With the humans mounting one last offensive against the ‘dirty apes’, even after being offered a truce, who are the idiots here?

I am also glad to see regulars Judy Greer, Karin Konoval and Terry Notary returning because they did a phenomenal job in Dawn. Also returning is Matt Reeves who picked up the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Sci-Fi/Horror Movie for his last efforts. Of course the movie wouldn’t be the same without the all round brilliant actor Andy Serkis either, so this is bound to be a hit!

War for the Planet of the Apes is out 14 July, 2017.

  1. I’ve only watched the original Planet of the Apes. Not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing.

The previous 2 movies in this new remake series were both excellent. Give them a go!
