When a TV show idea gets floated around, it’s usually an ordeal for everyone involved to make it out of the development hell provess alive with at least some of their original idea surviving the process of securing a 13 episode run on the small screen. Well brace yourselves my future criminals, because Minority Report looks to be bypassing most of that crap as it heads to a small screen near you.
FOX has just picked up the series, with Deadline reporting the company have commited to a “put pilot” deal. What does that mean? A full series, or a crap-ton of cash paid out for nothing in a pay or play deal. The Minority Report series will be set years after the original film that starred Tom Cruise. Here’s the synopsis for it:
The series is envisioned as a sequel to the movie. It is set 10 years after the end of Precrime in DC. One of the three Precogs struggles to lead a “normal” human life, but remains haunted by visions the future, when he meets a detective haunted by her past who just may help him find a purpose to his gift.
Godzilla writer Max Borenstein will executive produce the show for Amblin Television. Hopefully it won’t be a crime against TV that we see coming.
