Kids love animals. Kids love talking animals. Kids love talking animals that go by the name of Paddington Bear even more, hence a new live-action/CG hybrid feature film starring the famous marmalade sandwich loving bear being voiced by Ben Wishaw. Yes, James Bond’s new Q is the voice of Paddington Bear. Just don’t expect any fancy gadgets.
Thankfully Paddington doesn’t look to be as bad as that other animal centric movie staring a rather Grumpy Cat, but then again not much else could be. It looks charming enough, in that ‘use every cliché comic technique to elicit a laugh’ sort of way. Director Paul King (The Mighty Boosh) brings us a movie I am sure children are going to love and parents just have to tolerate. Have a look at the trailer and tell me if I am just being too cynical.
The movie also stars Nicole Kidman and Peter Calpaldi as two taxidermists who want to stuff our furry friend and trying to stop them are parents Hugh Bonneville and Sally Hawkins. The movie is set for a January 14 release.
