Prepare for another WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER on Netflix!

2 min read

Some movies just get better with repeated viewings. Films such as Starship Troopers, Tropic Thunder and those surveillance tapes we have of Nick when he thought he was alone in the office. Wet Hot American Summer is one such movie that has deservedly earned a cult status. It’s a movie filled with future-success faces, actors who all went on to great things. And it’s a movie that deserved a sequel.

But that’s not happening. Because something much better is on the cards, as an 8-part mini-series sequel is headed to Netflix instead.

Teaming the original writers of the film back up, David Wain and Michael Showalter, the project will see most of the original cast return. That includes the likes of Elizabeth Banks, Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Joe Lo Truglio, Janeane Garafolo, Marguerite Moreau, Michael Ian Black, David Hyde Pierce, H. Jon Benjamin, Judah Friedlander, Nina Hellman, Zak Orth, A.D. Miles, Marisa Ryan, Kevin Sussman, Showalter, and last but certainly not least, Christopher Meloni.

Wain will direct the mini-series, although details on the exact plot have yet to be revealed. If you’ve never watched Wet Hot American Summer, picture it as Friday the 13th, only with zero homicidal lake killers and even more irresponsible camp councillors. If you’ll pardon me, I need to go fondle my sweaters. I mean fondue my cheddar. Yes, that is exactly what I said.
