Oh HBO, you really know how to tease me when it comes to Westworld – the TV show based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 movie of the same name about a futuristic theme park populated by androids. First you show a us few pictures, then you tease us with 30 seconds, and now you want to tease us for just that little big longer.
Well I’m here to tell you it worked – because this teaser trailer not only looks great but hints at many intriguing possibilities, and I can’t wait to see more. Take a look and see your yourself!
If you haven’t seen the original movie – which you should as it’s a classic – this series seems to be diving much further down the rabbit hole of artificial intelligence; and that’s what I’d expect when one of the creators is Jonathan Nolan, the man behind Person of Interest which dealt with that exact theme.
What’s interesting to me is that it looks like the focus of the series will be more on the androids and their waking from their “dreams” and confronting their reality, than about the humans fighting against them as was the case in the movie. What do you think?
Westworld‘s 10-episode first season is set to air on HBO later this year in October, no exact date for the premiere as yet. Created by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, it stars Ben Barnes, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Clifton Collins Jr., Ed Harris, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Sidse Babett Knudsen, James Marsden and Thandie Netwon.
