The highly anticipated 2015 Mad Max, co-written and directed by George Miller, looks totally INSANE. Really. Each time I watch a new trailer I get the sense that the title, Mad Max: Fury Road really does the film justice. It just looks, well, bat sh*t crazy!

From people painted in white bouncing from poles attached to vehicles that seem to run on FLAMES to mini tornadoes also made of FLAMES there is a lot of fire in the film (FLAMETHROWER GUITAR!). And car crashes. Lots and lots of innovative ways to end the lives of fast travelling cars (and one assumes their occupants).Which certainly lends to the artistic talents of Miller – the guy must have quite a few screws lose.

The only thing I worry about is whether Tom Hardy takes a back seat to Charlize Theron, as he seems to almost be a secondary character in this latest full trailer which isn’t really Mad Max then, more Mad Theron…

Well we don’t have long to wait to find out whether this is the case. Have a watch of this and see if you can look at a braai the same way again.

Destroying more cars than video game Carmageddon, Mad Max: Fury Road also stars Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past), Hugh Keays-Byrne (Sleeping Beauty), Zoe Kravitz (Divergent), Nathan Jones (Troy) and Riley Keough (Magic Mike). It will hit local screens on April 15.

I have been an avid fan of movies ever since I discovered Santa Clause wasn't real, a day marked in my memory by my first viewing of It's a Wonderful Life, which wasn't so wonderful that day. Since then I've watched thousands of movies and even fooled my parents into putting me through uni to get a degree in the subject. I first started writing as a journalist for The South African Newspaper before moving onto communications for an NGO trying to save the planet. Unfortunately my recommendations to the CEO that we should all don rings imbued with the powers of earth, fire, wind, water and HEART went unheard. Now I pretend the end isn't nigh by hiding in movies.
