Ahhh, Hannibal. A series that I was first hesitant to engage in and then ended up needing more and more every time I was dragged into the madness of Mads Mikkelsen’s character (and what a portrayal of Hannibal Lecter, better than Sir Anthony Hopkins in my book!). The first two seasons managed to captivate me in a way only a few other shows have and season 3 is looking to carry on doing this.

The relationship between Hannibal and Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) was centre stage for the first two seasons, with each character trying to one up the other in a superb game of cat and mouse that led to some crazy conclusions at the end of season two (no spoilers here). Season three looks to focus more on Gillian Anderson’s Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, a character who has remained quite enigmatic up till this point but seems to be on the verge of marrying Hannibal now. I’m not sure what scares me more, marriage or being invited over for the post-marriage meal… The season will also bring in the rather unhinged Tooth Fairy storyline, one that many may remember from Red Dragon. This time though the role of Francis Dolarhyde will be played by Richard Armitage who was Thorin in The Hobbit.

Well enough from me, onward with the titillating teaser trailer!

Season three of Hannibal will air on 4 June. Make sure you have a fine chianti on hand to fully enjoy the experience.

I have been an avid fan of movies ever since I discovered Santa Clause wasn't real, a day marked in my memory by my first viewing of It's a Wonderful Life, which wasn't so wonderful that day. Since then I've watched thousands of movies and even fooled my parents into putting me through uni to get a degree in the subject. I first started writing as a journalist for The South African Newspaper before moving onto communications for an NGO trying to save the planet. Unfortunately my recommendations to the CEO that we should all don rings imbued with the powers of earth, fire, wind, water and HEART went unheard. Now I pretend the end isn't nigh by hiding in movies.
