Fathers and Daughters is the upcoming drama starring Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried from director Gabriele Muccino (The Pursuit of Happyness) that tells parallel stories of loss and recovery.
Crowe stars as Jake Davis, a famous writer and devoted single father to his daughter Katie (Kylie Rogers). However when he’s struck by a serious illness he sends her to live with relatives while he undergoes treatment. Fast forward 27 years, the now adult Katie (Amanda Seyfried) struggles with making connections due to her past…
It seems like a movie intent on tugging at your heart strings, which risks falling into melodrama. However Muccino has tread this line carefully before and is also helped by the fact that the movie has an all-star cast. It features not only Crowe and Seyfried, but also Aaron Paul, Diane Kruger, Jane Fonda, Bruce Greenwood, Octavia Spencer, Quvenzhane Wallis and Janet McTeer.
It certainly seems one to keep an eye on while keeping a box of tissues handy. Anyway, let me get these onions out of this dusty room. Don’t know why I was chopping them in here anyway – damn allergies.
Fathers and Daughters currently has a limited release internationally in Italy (1 Oct), Japan (3 Oct), Netherlands (29 Oct), Spain (13 Nov) and the US (sometime 2015).
