I like beer, quite a lot actually, so when someone mentioned the movie Kidnapping Freddy Heineken I immediately had images of crates of beer in my head. Instead though, it seems crates of cash is the order of the day. The movie is based on the real life events leading up to and after the kidnapping of famous beer baron Alfred Freddy Heineken (played by Sir Anthony Hopkins) and stars quite the cast.
It looks like a typical thriller, lots of heist planning, car chases, betrayals, desperation, and a kidnapped victim that seems to have very little concern for his predicament (it’s Hopkins, what do you expect?!) so I doubt it’s going to be Oscar material (America certainly doesn’t seem to think so as they don’t even have a distribution date set). I am still intrigued though as I like Daniel Alfredson’s directing and the cast is anything but shabby.
Have a watch and see what you think.
Kidnapping Freddy Heineken stars Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas), Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs), Sam Worthington (Avatar), Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Jemima West (City of Bones) and is directed by Daniel Alfredson (The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest). It’s set for release in 2015.
