I’ve never seen the original Troll, only its awfully good and utterly unrelated sequel. Troll 2 is better known these days, mainly because it is one of the worst films ever made. Bashed together by a bunch of Italians with no capacity for English and in record time, it’s quite something. By the way, Troll 2 was an english-language movie, so that says it all.
I can’t remember how it ended up being named the sequel – no doubt some greedy distributor – but as a result everyone forgot about the original Troll. It’s a quaint horror comedy about a troll wizard who invades an apartment complex and begins converting everything and everyone into a fairyland. Something like that, at least – check out the trailer for more:
Now it will return as an animated series and movie called Troll: The Rise of Harry Potter, Jr.. Wait, Harry Potter?
This has nothing to do with J.K.Rowling’s book series, though the producers won’t be receiving any letters from lawyers either. ‘Harry Potter’ was the name of the dad in the original film and this animated sequel will track the story of his son, also named Harry Potter.
No doubt the creators of Troll saw a great marketing coup here, but they did come up with the name first.
There will also be an animated series… and a theme park in China?
This is too much for a Friday. I’m leaving. Someone tell Kervyn I have a dentist appointment.
