Greatest Royal Rumble (4)

Wait a minute…didn’t we just have a Royal Rumble? Y’know, that cornerstone event that kicks off each new year in the WWE and starts the road to Wrestlemania? Well yes, yes we did! That event saw Shinsuke Nakamura and Asuka crowned as Royal Rumble champs in their respective divisions, but this Friday? Prepare for what the WWE calls The Greatest Royal Rumble. Which I’m imagining will be followed by The Greatest Wrestlemania in China later in the year, The Greatest Summerslam in Australia and then The Greatest Survivor Series in Vatican City.

One ring, 50 challengers and at least 49 superstars going over the top rope in an effort to be the last man standing. Taking place from the King Abdullah International Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, it looks like the WWE is attempting to woo the Middle East audience with a match card that rivals that of Wrestlemania. See for yourself below:

Greatest Royal Rumble (2)

  • The historic first-ever 50-Man Greatest Royal Rumble Match
  • Universal Champion Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns (Steel Cage Match)
  • The Undertaker vs. Rusev (Casket Match)
  • John Cena vs. Triple H
  • WWE Champion AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
  • United States Champion Jeff Hardy vs. Jinder Mahal
  • Bray Wyatt and “Woken” Matt Hardy vs. Sheamus and Cesaro (to crown the new Raw Tag Team Champions)
  • SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bludgeon Brothers vs. The Usos
  • Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins vs.The Miz vs. Finn Bálor vs. Samoa Joe (Ladder Match)
  • WWE Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander vs. Kalisto

That’s seven titles on the line right there, with a few fan favourite matches thrown into the mix. Will this be the event where Roman Reigns finally manages to knock Brock Lesnar off of his throne that the Conqueror has sat in for so long? Will the Deleters of Worlds be WONDERFUL when they face The Bar? Probably, I guess. Thanks to the Saudi Arabia location, this year’s event takes place at a not so ungodly hour of 18:00PM on the African continent. That’ll be broadcast live on Supersport 4, while our Yank pals can start watching at 11 a.m. ET/8 a.m. PT.

Here’s the full list of everyone confirmed for the main event so far:
