We got to play Destiny’s new PvP modes – here’s some footage!

If you haven’t yet taken in the few hundreds words I’ve already used to wax lyrical about my surprisingly good experience with Destiny’s PvP last night, fear not! We managed to capture a ton of gameplay at the event, meaning we have something a little prettier for you to look at while I explain all the intricate details about Taken King’s new PvP to the Destiny clueless Matty here.

Essentially I got my hands on two modes. Mayhem was the best of the two, featuring insanely small cooldowns on all of your Guardian abilities to create a true sense of chaos in this team deathmatch up. Rift was a little more conventional, with destiny finally having it’s own form of capture the flag. Guardians are tasked with sprinting towards a spawning spark, which they can then take to a goal and attempt to score with some visual flair for additional points.

In amongst that we also got to take a look at the three new Subclasses for the Titan, Warlock and Hunter – with a breakdown of their new abilities, new gear and new weapons that all went very pew pew. Check it out.

I must admit, The Taken King is really hitting all the right notes for me at the moment. It’s clear that Bungie has really taken the year to think about what they want Destiny to be going forward, and I’m certain it’s going to twist my arm and bring me back to the shooter once more.

I’ve definitely become a fan of Destiny again but not the PvP part.. I just prefer the co-op strikes and raids over everything else

I still very much plays it all, but when the Iron Banner hits that is definitely where you will find me. Taking a break from Destiny for a while is a good thing, the game does get tedious if you don’t like the PvP…

I am more hyped for this than the first release and I was pretty high on it last year at this time! The Titan’s hammer is very much like the Hunters flaming gun super… HammerSteyn will like that a lot! He hates the Hunters super gun 🙂
I can’t wait to sink my teeth into that Titan subclass… there will be glorious flaming hammer kills all over the PvP
